Originally known as The Bobby Boyd Congress, the group hails from Long Island, New York, but found its fortune and best sound in Europe, as they relocated to Paris, and became the in-house band to legendary producer Pierre Jaubert. After Bobby Boyd left the group to come back to New York, they went on as Ice, and for a good time also as Lafayette Afro Rock Band (yes, that Lafayette).
Helped by Jaubert’s touch, they put together a torrid combination of funk, afro rhythms and soul music, as “Seven Americans in Paris“, their fourth album, testifies. Even if the album here has strong disco accents, you still can find the soul of Lafayette in the deepest cut of the lot, the impressive Louisiana Suite, in three parts.
The copy we have here record looks unplayed, the record is in great shape, almost mint conditions. The laminated cover comes with its original price sticker on the front and some stains on the back. Pictures are available upon request.
