A classic number from the legendary drummer known as Bernard “Pretty” Purdie, the same driving force behind some phenomenal old-school drum-breaks (Aretha’s own Rocksteady, anyone?) and infinite myths about him being the fifth Beatle, ghost-playing for Ringo Starr.

He’s also the drummer for countless sessions with the Roy Ayers Group, Eddie Palmieri’s own Harlem River Drive, and son on…Soul Drums is his solo debut, drums galore and up-tempo down-south infused funk rhythms, from the man who invented the modern shuffle on drums. Arranged and conducted by famous pianist Richard Tee, here you have a little funk gem to rock.
