A summer mix to keep you fresh yet sizzling hot, innit?
When we host FF on our virtual pages it is always a good time. Despite the fact that we’ve been sparse in copious news lately, we still try to bring our own with simplicity and good taste to those who follow us. You asked for more music, more audio insights, and more tips to discover new things. We asked our main man in Havana to select some fresh things for our you, beloved friends.
We left him the word to introduce and explain the meaning of this Summermixxx for the Blast Podcast series, a mix that spans not so much chronologically (it is music published in the last 12 months or so) as geographically and as musical intuitions are concerned. The word to FF, so …
It took me a while to get back to selecting music, I felt like I needed it.
Since the release of The Irhu Experience, last year, I wrote two albums, got old productions back on track in the studio, and listened to a lot of different genres of music, mostly new releases.
I shot videos, put energy into different projects, discovered new drifts of sound, but I missed doing what I did for a long time, anyway, which is sharing my research and passion for music. In the end, thanks to you, sb’s friends, I come back with a simple selection, a sort of compendium of sounds, in small part, the very same sounds that have accompanied me during these months, the last year or so.
From the golden sound made in the UK by bands like Children of Zeus, or the jazz of Nubya Garcia own quintet, up to the Naples of Bop and 291Out, from the street rap of Westside Gunn to instrumental escapes of more rarefied and classic things like Blue Lab Beats , here is a decent trip in what is the most relevant sound to my last year moods. There are obviously unspoken things and arcane not revealed, on the sidelines of everything, but maybe we’ll find a way to talk about it otherwise, elsewhere…meanwhile, thanks strettoblaster, this is Summer Mix , enjoy! – FF
